Dr. Abdullah Alsherif

I have been graduated from the medical of King Abdul-Aziz university in Jeddah at 1993, and then I got the Saudi Pediatric board at 2003 and Saudi PIC Board at 2004, and further honed my Pediatric Intensive Care training at Children’s Hospital in Western Ontario, Canada from July 2005 to June 2007.

I was a Chairman of Pediatric Intensive Care Department at Children’s Hospital, King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2011 to 2014. Pediatric Intensive Care Department is a 30-bed capacity providing tertiary care dealing with all types of pediatric critical care diseases. Further, I was the team leader of PICU Key Performance Indicators (KPI) monitoring team. I have promulgated the improvement in the department and has been the guiding force in implementing quality measures and benchmarking based on International Standards.

In my tenure in Children’s Hospital, KFMC, I was responsible for the reformation of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to Pediatric Intensive Care Department in 2012, the completion and commencement of the Saudi Council Pediatric Intensive Care Fellowship Program in late 2012 and reaccreditation last December 2013, increasing the number of fellows from 1 to 3 and these fellows come from different countries (Pakistan, Yemen, Sudan and Saudi Arabia), accomplishing the Virtual PICU System (VPS) for Pediatric Intensive Care Department as one of the strategic objective of KFMC (VPS is an international, multi-institutional database that supports quality improvement and research in pediatric critical care).

From 2010 to 2013, I was the head quarter of society of critical care medicine in the western region and the director of the pediatric mechanical ventilation and other fundamental courses run by the Saudi critical care society throughout Saudi Arabia.

In 2013, I was designated as the chairman of the scientific committee of the PICU trac in the Pan Arab Critical Care society UNTIL 2022 and appointed as a consultant of the deputy of the minister for therapeutic medicine to Develop the Departments of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in MOH hospitals.

I was involved in several committees at Children’s Hospital, King Fahad Medical City as well as in the outreach program of KFMC and the Ministry of Health aimed at developing Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in different regions of Saudi Arabia.

I am a member of CBAHI as a medical and ESR surveyor since 2014 and 2018 respectively.
