Dr. Saidu Yusuf Yakubu, is an Associate Professor and Consultant Anaesthesiologist at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Zaria, Nigeria. He has been the Head of Anaesthesia at ABU and ABUTH Zaria from 2017 to 2021 and from October 2023 till date.
Dr. Yakubu is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), Member-Faculty Board of Anaesthesia of the West African College of Surgeons, a Council Member-World Federation of Intensive and Critical Care, Assistant General-Secretary Intensive and Critical Care Society of Nigeria (I-CCSN), Member of the Society for the Advancement of Patient Blood Management (SABM) and Member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). He is the current General Secretary of the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists (NSA), Treasurer-Society of Obstetric Anaesthetists of Nigeria (SOAN), the present Kaduna Zonal Coordinator of the Society for the Study of Pain Nigeria (SSPN) and the Chairman Local Organizing Committee of the I-CCSN 2024 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference. He was the NSA North-West Zonal Coordinator from 2019 to 2021 and the Chairman Local Organizing Committee of the NSA 2021 Annual Conference and AGM.
Achievements:
• Earned the International Rising Star Award for Best Poster Presentation at the 2019 World Critical Care Congress in Melbourne, Australia.
• Awarded an International Multidisciplinary Perioperative Pain Prevention and Management Education Grant by the IASP for educating students and staff and continuing research for the year 2020.
He has interests in Critical Care, Patient Blood Management, Peri-operative Pain Prevention & Management and Safety in Anaesthesia.
