Al-Sabah Hospital
Al Sabah Hospital started to provide intensive care service in the late 1970s by Dr. Zaki Emara (RIP) and had only two beds in general ward. Intensive care unit was established in 1979 with 5 beds capacity. Later in 1995, the ICU was upgraded to 13 bedded general ICU under Anaesthesia and Intensive care department. Over the next few years, on 15th June 2010, it was expanded and divided into two sections as Medical ICU having 10 beds capacity specialized for medical cases and Surgical ICU of 12 beds capacity specialized for trauma and post-operative critical patients with digital file system by Dr. Abdulraheem Al Qattan.
